Today's chapter is 2.4.3! (Or 3.1.3, depending.) 3.1.3, consensus seems to be! Anyway, it's "Connivence des hommes et des forêts," aka "Connivance of Men and Forests" or "Men and Forests in Connivance." Discuss away!

(And please go to that other post to weigh in on the numbering issue, if you feel inclined to do so.)

As near as I can tell without going back to look over all the versions: the Frank Lee Benedict translation which was the one whose chapter titles I wrote up first for the numbering starts Part III: In Vendée a few chapters from now, with "Plusquam Civilia Bella." The A.L. Brut translation and the French original started Part III right before what we had already termed 2.4.1, "Les forêts"/"The Forests." OOPS. I made a chart of the chapters, here, for anyone who wants to see where the discrepancies are (highlighted yellow).

Anyone have a strong opinion on sticking with what we already had versus renumbering ourselves to be in the 3.1.xs now?

Getting close to the end of the title-less Convention chapters, but not quite there yet! 2.3.10 today.

...So apparently I managed to skip posting entirely on the 22nd, and we are thus ACTUALLY up to 2.3.9 today. Thanks to [tumblr.com profile] pilferingapples/[personal profile] thjazi for catching the discrepancy! (She suggests we call this an homage to Hugo's math. WORKS FOR ME.) Anyway, go forth and discuss 2.3.9 today, and tomorrow will be 2.3.10!

We're at The Convention! And there's no more chapter titles until we leave!  I don't often say this, but wow, I hope everyone feels like discussing politics!

Time for chapter 2.2.3, "Tresaillement des fibres profondes," variously translated as "The Thrill of Hidden Chords" and "A Stirring of the Inmost Nerves."

And now, chapter 2.2.2, continuing the classical theme with more Latin: "Magna testantur voce per umbras."

Ack! I'm sorry, guys -- I totally forgot to post this last night. (For the record, any member of the comm should be able to post here, so if I mess up again, any of you is more than free to put up a discussion post if you want to be able to talk in it.)

We're to Book II now, "Le cabaret de la Rue du Paon," aka "The Public-House of the Rue du Paon. Specifically, 2.2.1: "Minos, Éaque, et Rhadamante" or "Minos, Aeacus, and Rhadamanthus."

Posting today's discussion post a little early, since my schedule tomorrow will be wonky. Chapter 2.1.3, "Un coin non trempé dans le Styx," aka "A Corner Not Dipped in Styx" or "A Heel not Dipped in the Styx."
