And here's the post for 3.2.4: "C'est la seconde fois." Both translations I see translate it as "It is the Second Time," but one of them puts it in extra dialogue quotes. Discuss away!

"There are only twelve of you, but you are worth a thousand." <- Not just in terms of their bravery and skill, but actually in terms of scaring the peasants off and faking that there are a thousand of them!

"Praise from the chief meant the cross of honor at that time." <- The republican government doesn’t have the same military decorations that the old regime used.

"who had aided the flight of others but had not fled himself." <- Seems like a positive description, even for the royalists.

"My name is Danse-a-l’Ombre." <- Dance to the Shadow, apparently? Good nickname for a guy who fights in the darkness of the forests or the city at night. I was thinking too much of Spanish and read this as "dance to the man," which would be a pretty vague nickname.

"raising both arms at once, he fired his pistol at Gauvain’s heart, and aimed a blow at his head with his sword." <- Is this actually an effective way of trying to be doubly sure you kill him, or is it just setting himself up to be embarrassed at how ineptly he divided his attention?

Either way, it doesn’t work, mysterious stranger foils both attacks at once, and Gauvain gets away without a scratch (again).

"This is the second time you have saved my life." <- Chapter title drop, bringing the score to Cimourdain 2, forces of chaos 0. Sizable lead. ;)

"Thy father," said Cimourdain. <- Awww. …Am I going to have to care about these two addressing each other as "tu"? I probably am.

Yeah, I love how the remnants of the Bonnet Rouge are *literally* worth a thousand! And also how Gauvain takes care to praise them for it.
